    1849 (April 27): Entire letter from Port Louis to Nantes endorsed "pr. Overland via Marseille", with fair strike of framed "PACKET" handstamp unusually in combination with circular MAURITIUS / POST OFFICE cds in black. Carried on "Elizabeth" to Galle and P&O "Bentinck" to Suez, then on the "Ripon" to Malta and the "Medusa" to Marseille where struck with "Indes Or. / Marseille" entry mark in red. Nantes arrival (July 24) on reverse, chareged '20' décimes due.
