    Regno, usage of Sardinian adhesives 1861 (May 20): Cover from Messina to Genova, bearing Sardinia IV. emission 80 c. 'giallo arancio' and 10 c. 'bruno chiaro' as well as 1858/61 1 c. black in a vertical strip of three, fine and fresh adhesives with good to large margins, tied by light MESSINA cds, clear information strike and three-line "PIROSCAFI POSTALI FRANCESI" handstamp in red alongside. Reverse with GENOVA arrival (May 24) cds. The 93 centesimi rate cannot be explained, nevertheless a very attractive three colour franking, an early usage of the Sardinian adhesives during their first month in Sicily. Cert. E.
