    1840: 1d. black, plate 1b, lettered JL, good to large margins, tied by red MC to entire letter from Bedford Row London to Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire. Reverse with despatch datestamp (Oct 16, 1840), front with indistinct straight-line handstamp. Horizontal file fold well away from the franking, a fine cover. Signed Pfenninger; opinion Holcombe (1996).
