    1840: 2 d. pale blue, plate 1, lettered HD, a used example with good to large margins all round, showing additional vertical guideline in the "D" square clearly, on 1840 cover from Newham to Chepstow, lightly cancelled by Maltese Cross in red. Underpaid with manuscript "4d. / More to Pay" at left as found to be over 1 ounce, postage due charged at double the deficiency. adhesive minor imperfections. A rare and attractive cover.
