1840: 2 d. blue, plate 1, lettered HE-HF / IE-IF, a block of four in combination with 1 d. black, plate 6, lettered NE-NF, used on 1840 cover from Inverary to Edinburgh carried at under 5 ounce rate, tied by Maltese Crosses in red. Margins just touched to large, cover crease below the adhesives; however multiples of the black and blue on cover are extreme rarities, minor imperfections including ironed creasing through the pair, which was inaccurately replaced . A cover of magnificent visual appeal and an Exhibition highlight.The only 2d block of four used with 1d black on cover. The only other such combination with a 2d block of four is an undated large piece.
