    1840 (May 6): 1 d. black, plate 1a, lettered RL, a used example on 1840 First Day entire letter from London to Darlington, margins large to just touched, tied by red Maltese Cross with a legible strike of a London despatch cds "MY-6" in red and  a House of Commons red wax seal on the reverse. Exhibits well, rare. Dr.Ez.Diena cert.(1990) Gi AS(2)ta = £ 75'000.rnRemarks: The letter is addressed to railway pioneer Edward Pease (1767-1858), often referrred to as the "father of the railways".
