    1891 (June 18): De La Rue hand-painted Essay for the proposed 2½ d. design in lilac and deep lilac, marked 'A' at top and dated 'June 18th 91', largely as accepted, painted on to thick card, 66 x 78 mm., with Key Plate value in red and "2½d." and TASMANIA in Chinese white, with perforations drawn round in pencil.
