    1903/04: De La Rue Essay for the proposed 1 a. value, imperforate on thick card (90 x 115 mm.), printed in rose with the Duty Plates and background swathes at top and at sides hand-painted in lilac, the card marked "A" and dated "Oct 29th 03" at top and "Dupl." at base. Pencil "App'd" (Approved) at top. Illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 6572.
