    1877: De La Rue artist's composite Essay for the 32 c. value (issued in slate), imperforate on thick card with head-plate in pale blue taken from the 1867 De La Rue 1 d., the surround hand-painted in deep blue, the surround with "Ceylon Postage" and "Thirty Two Cents" hand-painted in Chinese white over pencil.
