    Recess by De La Rue 1863/66: 6 d. reddish-brown, wmk. Crown CC type 5, perf. 12½, two overlapping examples used on 1864 entire letter from Colombo to London endorsed "p. French Str. from Galle" cancelled by barred obliterator in black. "Colombo / Paid" cds in red at left (May 10) and three strikes of London arrival datestamps in red (two on reverse). Internally backed for protection but a fine entire showing a 2d. overpayment of the 10d. rate via Marseilles.rnProvenance: Collection Rev. G.E.K.
