    Recess by Perkins Bacon on white paper 1857: 1 d. deep turquoise-blue, wmk. Star, imperforate on slightly blued paper, a single example on 1862 cover to Dellitti, with huge margins all round and portions of adjoining stamps at top and at right, tied by barred obliterator with 'Kandy' cds of despatch in red on reverse (April 29); alongside pencil notation "From the Ceylon collection of Admiral Harris". Exceptional.rnNote: Rear Admiral Frederic R. Harris (1875-1949) collected Hawaii and co-authored "Hawaii, Its Stamps and Postal History". He also collected Ceylon (sold in February 1951 at Harmer Rooke in New York) and Italian States.
