    Chandernagor 1877/79: France General Issue Type Sage 25 c. ultramarine, a four margin example, used on 1885 cover to Paris, boldly tied (and accepted) by the British Post Office "C-12" obliterator (sub-Office No. 10 of Chandernagor, branch office 3). Circular "Chandernagore" despatch cds adjacent (Oct 6) in black. Carried on the P&O "Valetta" from Bombay (Oct 9) to Suez with "Sea Post Office / F"" datestamp on reverse, thence via Brindisi with "Chambery a Macon" datestamp of transit (Oct 26). Rare and very fine cover, a possibly unique usage. Signed Roumet.
