    1841: 1 d. pink envelope used in 1877 to Antanannarivo, Madagascar endorsed 'per French Packet', up-rated with 1870 1½ d. lake pl. 3 and 1873/80 2½ d. rosy mauve pl. 6 in a block of four all tied by "Hastings / 342" duplexes (Feb 8) in black for the under ½ ounce rate of 1 s. ½ d. Manuscript '7' pence credit to France. Carried on the French Packet "Djemnah" to Aden and thence by the "Godavery" via Mahe, Seychelles to Mauritius where backstamped in blue (March 12) and thence by private vessel to destination. Minor envelope imperfections but an extraordinary cover for franking and destrination.rnProvenance: Harmers, London, 21 Dec 1994, lot 2159.
