    Charles Whiting 1848: Essays by Charles Whiting printed by the Congreve process to illustrate an article by Robert Hunt on Compound Plate printing in the "Art Journal", showing oval "PAID" postal stationery type design with the young Queen Victoria head in pink above two 'Treasury Essays' and a wonderful scrolled design and engine-turning in steel-blue applied over elaborate cameo work to green surround (218 x 271 mm.). Some very minor soiling but a delightful and iconic example of Whiting's work.
