    Charles Whiting 'Forerunners' Lottery Handbills 1817/1826: Advertising Handbills and Lottery 'puffs', the small group of 10 items all printed by Charles Whiting, many in association with Thomas Bish, with 1817 illustrated Lottery handbill ("Buy a whole ticket you may build a mansion...become a Member of Parliament"), 1825 elaborate red and blue bicoloured notice for April 12th draw printed by the Congreve Compound Plate process, 1825 illustrated handbill for July 15th draw, bicoloured red and green handbill for October 18th draw with Whiting & Branston imprint (two different), 1826 embossed lottery card in pink, blue & brown for March 1st draw with same imprint, 1826 handbills (2) in two or three colours for the (postponed) 3rd May and 18th July draws with imprints and handbill for the final lottery draw held on October 18th. Thereafter the Lotteries were closed down by Act of Parliament, led by William Wilberforce.
