    1856 (Aug 8): Cover addressed to a Surgeon on "R.M.S. Tamar" at Teneriffe, Canary Islands, endorsed "Via Southampton" franked by 1855 2 d. blue pair, perf. 14, with 1847/54 Embossed 1 s. green and 6 d. purple, both cut round, tied by London '12' numeral obliterators. Charged on arrival with circular "4.R" (reales) handstamp in red. Despite imperfections, an extremely rare destination at this date.
