    1850: Cover to Rothschild in London endorsed "via Pointe de Galle" struck with excellent "PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS" in black (Nov 19). Carried by the "Elizabeth" to Galle, P&O "Oriental" to Suez, "Ripon" to Malta and thence on the French steamer "Medusa" to Marseille and by rail to London (Feb 16) where charged '2/-' to pay.
