    Diamond Jubilee 1897: Diamond Jubilee Stamp Design competition, Essays (7), three of which are composite designs, photographically reproduced and reduced, five handstamped "TENDER BOARD / GPO / 22 APR 97", showing thirteen designs including one close to the accepted 2½ d. design (here as 1 d.); one labelled with pseudonym 'Hamburg' and another 'Warrigal' at base. One composite Proof for 1 d., 2 d. and 2½ d. designs labelled in latin "imago animi vultus est" (the face is the image of the mind).
