    1871 (Feb 8): Envelope from Kiev to Pest, Hungary, then under Austrian rule bearing 1866 1 kop. yellow & black, 3 kop. green & black with background 'V' instead of '3' and 10 kop. brown & blue, all with horizontally laid paper, three fine and fresh examples, tied by KIEV despatch cds, wreathed circular FRANCO and RUSSIE handstamps alongside. Reverse with Austrian BRODY transit (Feb 25) and Hungarian PEST arrival (Feb 27) cds's. Some toning, but an interesting item sent between two astonishingly rare places.
