    1877 (Aug 21): Entire letter from Carmagnola to Marseille, bearing a mixed franking of 1867 (April) Torino printing 20 c. blue in a mixed franking with 1877 10 c. blue, two fresh and fine adhesives, tied by clear '669' numeral obliterator, matching CARMAGNOLA despatch cds in black and French "ITALIE LANSLEBOURG 22 AOUT 77" entry cds in violet alongside. Reverse with Lyon transit and MARSEILLE arrival (Aug 23) cds's. Light horizontal file fold just mentioned for accuracy, an exceptionally rare 'gemelli' franking of the same colour, but different design and denomination, possible only in August 1877, when the 1877 definitive had been issued while the 20 c. definitive was not longer valuable than end of that month.
