    1857: 5 c. 'verde giallo chiaro' in a horizontal pair in combination with 40 c. 'rosso scarlatto', three fresh and fine adhesives with good to large margins, well embossed, cancelled by two strikes of "CHAMBERY 14 AOUT 57" cds in black to envelope, directed to Lyon. Obverse with oval company "CHEMIN de FER / VICTOR EMMANUEL" handstamp in black, "P.D." in red and French "SARDAIGNE 15 AOUT 57 CULOZ" entry cds in red. Reverse with LYON arival cds (Aug 15). Horizontal file fold, some water staining at right not impairing the beauty of this rare franking paying correctly the 50 c. rate to France. Signed Vaccari; cert. Raybaudi (2004) Sassone = € 3'400.
