French Post Offices in the Levant, Egypt 1874 (May 30): Envelope from Minie via Alexandria to Paris, bearing Cérès 80 c. rose in a combination franking with Egypt 1 pi. rose red (Gi 31), two fine and fresh examples. Upon despatch in Minie the Egyptian adhesive was tied by "POSTE VICE-REALI EGIZIANE MINIE 30 MAG 74" cds with an information strike alongside. The French definitive was toed by a Gros Chiffres '5080' numeral lozenge with "ALEXANDRIE EGYPTE 1 JUIN 74" despatch cds and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with "POSTE EGIZIANE CAIRO" and "POSTE EGIZIANE ALESSANDRIA" transit (May 30) as well as indistinct Paris arrival cds's.
