    1872: Entire letter from Marseille to Constantinople, bearing a three-colour franking of Cérès 5 c. green, 15 c. bistre Petits Chiffres and two singles of 30 c. brown, all in fine and fresh condition, tied by Gros Chiffres "2240" numeral lozenge, despatch "MARSEILLE B. M. 22 MARS 73" cds and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with "CONSTANTINOPLE TURQUIE 31 MARS 73" arrival cds. An exceptional combination to pay the 80 c. rate to a French PO in the Levant, signed E. Diena.
