    1870: Envelope from Marseille to Codempino, Ticino, Switzerland, bearing Bordeaux 30 c. dark-brown, a fresh and fine adhesive with large margins all round, tied by clear Gros Chiffres '2240' numeral lozenge, matching despatch cds (Jan 10, 72) and framed PD in red alongside. Reverse with LUGANO transit (Jan 16) cds. Backflap missing and shortened at top, nevertheless an appealing usage of this adhesive to a small village in Ticino, correctly paying the rate to Switzerland.
