    1854 (July 20): Entire letter from Le Havre to New York, endorsed "St. Nicolas" and bearing Napoléon imperf. 20 c. blue type I and 40 c. orange, two fresh examples with brilliant colours and and good to large margins, tied by 'Petits Chiffres '1495' lozenge and American '6' (cents) due handstamp in circle, despatch cds and framed PD, both in red alongside. Vertical file fold well away from the adhesives, nevertheless an exceptional cover with this red cancellation paying correctly rate to the USA with an American vessel, in this case the 'St. Nicolas'.
