Recess by Perkins Bacon 1851/55: Perkins Bacon (1 d.) grey on blued paper, a used example with good to large margins all round on 1852 entire letter from Cuidad Bolivar, Venezuela (15 Dec 1852), mailed from Port of Spain to London endorsed 'p. W.I. Steam Packet' to care of Forwarding Agent in London tied by fine numeral '1' obliterator. Reverse with 'Trinidad' double arc cds (Dec 29) and London arrival in red (19 Jan 1853) and charged '1/-' to pay. Sent on unpaid to Hamburg 'via Ostend' and struck with "3½ / GROSCHEN" in black (Van der Linden fig. 3256), with '9' schilling due in manuscript upon receipt (Jan 22).
