    1872: De La Rue artist's composite Essay for the 8 c. value (issued in orange-yellow), imperforate on thick card with head-plate in pale green taken from the 1867 De La Rue 1 d. or 3 d., the surround to the head-plate hand-painted in deep British racing green and Chinese white, the "Ceylon Postage" and "Eight Cents" and grecian frame hand-painted in deep green over pencil.
