    Recess by De La Rue on handmade paper 1867/70: 9 d. blackish brown and 4 d. rose-carmine, wmk. Crown CC type 6, perf. 12½, a used examples on 1870 cover to Weymouth endorsed "via Marseilles", lightly cancelled by barred obliterators with "COLOMBO / PAID" despatch cds alongside (March 8) in red. Reverse with Weymouth arrival (April 3). Some peripheral aging does not detract from an attractive usage.rnrnProvenance: Collection Rev. G.E.K.
