    Recess by De La Rue 1863/66: 2 d. grey green in a horizontal pair and 6 d. reddish-brown, wmk. Crown CC type 5, perf. 12½, used on 1865 cover to London cancelled by barred obliterators in black paying the 10d. rate via Marseilles, with reverse showing "COLOMBO / PAID" despatch cds in red (April 17) and obverse with 'London / Paid' arrival cds (May 15). The cover with bends and small tear close to the 6 d. adhesive not greatly affecting the appearance. A scarce usage.rnrnProvenance: Rev. G.E.K.
