    Recess by Perkins Bacon 1857/59: 1 s. slate-violet, wmk. Star, imperforate, a used example of fresh colour with large margins all round and showing portion of adjoining stamp at base, on 1859 entire letter at double rate from Colombo endorsed "Per Overland Mail via Marseilles" to London, tied by barred obliterator in black. Reverse with "COLOMBO / POST PAID" in red (April 15) and obverse with 'London / Paid' cds (May 16) in red. Charming and scarce.rnrnProvenance: Collection Rev. G.E.K.
