    Recess by Perkins Bacon on white paper 1857: 1 d. blue, wmk. Star, imperforate, variety on blued paper, a horizontal strip of five, margins just clear to mostly large with fifth stamp showing portion of adjoining stamp at right, used on 1861 cover to Calcutta cancelled by barred obliterators in black. "GALLE / POST PAID" despatch cds in red below (Nov 22). Reverse with framed "FORWARDED BY / JOHN BLACK / GALLE" cachet and Calcutta arrival in red (Nov 30). One vertical file fold crosses the adhesives but a charming and very scarce usage. Cert. RPSL (1970).
