    1861: Mexico District 4 r. dull rose on yellow, a very fine example used on 27 November 1863 cover from Mexico to Paris, France tied by "FRANCO / MEXICO" handstamp in black (Schatzkes fig. 821) paying the internal double rate. British P.O. VERA CRUZ cds on reverse (Dec 3) in black and London transit in red (Dec 31) where "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking applied. Manuscript at left '16' oz. weight and charged with handstruck '24' décimes due marking in black for triple rate (above 15 grams). Some minor edge wear but a fine and very scarce entire: the 4 reales is a rare stamp on letters used to overseas destinations. Signed Todd AIEP.
