    1867: 10 c. carmine, a used example on 1870 cover from Rotterdam to Le Havre endorsed "p. directeur Steamer Ary Scheffer" (non Contract Steamer, bâtiment du commerce') tied by dotted '16' numeral handstamp in black with Rotterdam despatch cds (Oct 30) below. Circular "OUTRE-MER / LE HAVRE" entry marking in red (Nov 3) and charged with handstruck '6' décimes to pay on arrival, equivalent to an unpaid letter. Small nicks to letter-sheet but a scarce cover.
