1854: India 2 a. green, two horizontal pairs, clear to large margins all round used on 8 March 1855 entire letter from Calcutta to Bordeaux (same correspondence as the previous lot), prepaid to Alexandria, endorsed "p. Bombay via Suez & Marseille", tied by dotted lozenges in black. Framed INDIA PAID in red below and circular 'INDES D'OR / 2 MARSEILLE 2' entry marking in red alongside, where taxed '20' décimes due in black: tariff for a double letter (above 7½ grams) from 1 Aug 1849.
