Lot# 6560 - Auction 274-283

  • Lot# : 6560 Sardinia

    1 / 2
1859: 20 c. dark blue with extremely rare variety: inverted embossing of the King's head 'effigie capovolta', a superb adhesive with good to large margins, the inverted head very well embossed and only lightly tied by "MILANO 12 SET. 60" cds, on entire letter to Verona, a crisp information strike alongside, reverse with wreathed VERONA arrival cds of the next day. Between June 1859 and February 1862 mail between Sardinia and Venetia and vice versa could only be prepaid to the respective border station while the receiver had to pay the residual journey upon receipt. In this case '5' soldi had to be paid for the first Austrian rayon. Light horizontal file fold well away from the adhesive just mentioned for accuracy, a most attractive cover with this sought after rarity, in addition on an entire sent to Venetia. Signed Raybaudi; certs. A. Diena (1958), E. Diena (1990), Colla (1992) Sassone = € 37'500.
