    Falso dell'epoca 1859/61: 10 gr. 'carminio violaceo', falso type V, in combination with 5 gr. carmine plate II, two fresh and fine adhesives, large to huge margined, cancelled by boxed ANNULLATO of Napoli, ASSICURATA handstamp in red alongside, on registered entire letter to Alimena nearby Palermo. Reverse with Napoli despatch (Dec 11, 1860) cds in red, obverse with Palermo transit (Dec 15) cds in black, struck upon arrival of the vessel in Sicily. An appealing and impressive combination of a faked stamp to defraud the postal system and a correct stamp issued by it, 'paying' correctly the rate to Sicily for a registered letter of two sheets, sent with a commercial vessel.
