    1840: 1d. black, plate 1a, two single adhesives belonging together, lettered PK & PL, early printing with clear to large margins tied by red MC to second sheet of entire letter internally dated May 14, 1840 and directed to Putney Heath. Reverse with rectangular datestamp of the same day in red. Horizontal and vertical file folds, nevertheless an interesting early May 1840 double rate cover from the first plate of the Penny Black. Signed Holcombe Gi spec = £ 3'500.
