    PSNC & RMSP 1877: Cover from Valparaiso to Le Havre, France endorsed "Via Panama", franked by extraordinary usage of Great Britain 1870 1½ d. lake pl. 3, 1876 8 d. orange and 1867 10 d. red-brown for the 1/7½ d. rate, tied by "C30" obliterators with VALPARAISO cds below (Feb 3) in black. Carried on PSNC Steamer to Panama, thence on the "Nile" to Plymouth. 'London / Paid' arrival cds (March 17) in red also tied the 10 d. adhesive. Le Havre arrival on reverse of a rare three issue, three colour franking. Top flap partly missing and envelope strengthened below the franking. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 191. One of just two recorded '8 d.' usages from Valparaiso. Rare.rnProvenance: Lugdunum, Lyon, 13 Dec 2010, lot 206.
