    Messageries Impériales 1872 (Aug 14): Mourning envelope with full contents from Santiago to France endorsed "par Panama et Saint Nazaire", franked by France laureated 1867 80 c. and 1871/75 Cérès 25 c. blue horizontal pair tied by dotted Anchor lozenge in black. Framed 'PD' alongside and octagonal "VALPARAISO" Consular datestamp (Aug 16) in black (Salles fig. 1381). Reverse with circular "LIGNE F / PAQ. FR. No. 2" datestamp (Aug 16) in black (Salles fig. 1581). Carried on Ligne F Steamer "Ville de Brest" to Panama, thence on the "Panama" from Colon to St. Nazaire, reverse with range of French transits and arrivals (Sept 28). Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 196. A rare cover.
