    RMSP 1857 (July 19): Entire letter from Mercedes to Cologne endorsed "pr. Southampton Steamer via Brazil", struck in transit with oval framed "Admon de Correos / Montevideo" datestamp in green (Aug 5). Carried on the RMSP "Tamar" to Southampton with London cds (Sept 7) in red on reverse and charged "1/4 d." due to pay; thence via Aachen to Cologne where rated "17" silvergroschen due in manuscript.
