    Spanish Colonial Period 1813 (Nov 19): Entire letter from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro, carried unusually by a British ship and endorsed "p. HMS Hermes" at lower left, prepaid on despatch and struck with straight line "FRANCA" and two line "BUENOS / AYRES" in red (Guinovart & Tizon 5 and 3). Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 99. Superb and rare.rnNote: This was the fourth "HMS Hermes". A 20-gun sixth rate launched in 1811 and burned in 1814 during a highly unsuccessful attack on Fort Bowyer at Mobile Point, Alabama.
