    1870. The Donaldson 'Clyde' Line. Routed from Glasgow, vbia Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro to La Plata. The sole Scottish service to South America, inaugurating a Steamer service in 1870 with the Astarte. rnrn1873 (March 2): Entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Ayres, Argentina endorsed "Vapor Marina", franked by 1866 Dom Pedro 100 r. green cancelled by segmented cork handstamp in black with "Rio de Janeiro" cds at right (March 2). Carried at the unsubsidised ship rate to La Plata. Illustrated in Edition D'Or on page 86. Just three recorded covers are known carried by this service.
