    1840: 1 d. black, plate 3, lettered OD, a fine example with large even margins all round, tied to 1840 Southgate's Mulready caricature No.5 by black Maltese Cross. 'King William Street' despatch handstamp below in black and red arrival (Oct 1) on reverse. The envelope opens well to display the 'rejected Designs for the Postage Envelope' panel. Light vertical file fold well away from the adhesive which has been lifted for checking and replaced and some staining removed. Extremely rare and most attractive. Certs. BPA (1996, 2019).
