    House of Commons 1 d. envelope 1840: "To be posted at the House of Commons only. / Post Paid.- ONE PENNY.- Weight not to exceed ½ oz.", a used example of the 1 d. envelope on unwatermarked wove paper, mailed to Ipswich and struck with 'Crown Paid' cds (March 4) in red on despatch. Countersigned at lower left by Lt. Col. Rushbrooke, MP for the Western Division of Suffolk (1835-1845), with 'Library House of Commons' red wax seal on reverse.
