    1 / 1
1867: 3rd Printing 1 r. black on blue thin quadrille paper, imperforate, two pairs on 15 October 1867 entire letter from Guadalajara to Mexico City, pair at left with huge margins all round cancelled by Guadalajara "whirl" handstamps in black (Schatzkes fig. 300), the second pair at right with one stamp showing 'AD' of GUADALAJARA with no impression, this pair left uncancelled (and thus could be called the largest known unused multiple of this stamp - there being but one other single example recorded unused) but 4 reales would have prepaid a letter weighing above ½ an ounce and below ¾ ounce for a distance within 16 leagues / 60 miles. Slightrest of tears in front panel, but a quite extraordinary entire of great rarity. Cert. Mepsi (1998).rnrnNote: The Mepsi certificate states the stamps and cover are genuine but cannot confirm the unused pair were present at the time of sending. This describer is of the opinion that all four stamps belong to the entire.rnrnProvenance: Collections Gene Scott, Omar Rodriguez.
