    1860: The original De La Rue artist's proposal for the first issue of Jamaica, hand-painted on thick card (20 x 23.5 mm.) with JAMAICA POSTAGE at top and THREE PENCE at base with side panels decorated with nine Shamrocks on each side in Chinese white on black, Queen Victoria head-plate in white surrounded in pencil on grey wash background.
