    The Imperial Thurn & Taxis Post Office in Venice 1511-1806: The fine exhibition collection with more than 85 letters and documents starting with 1511 parchment of Doge Leonardo Loredan (1436-1521), 1521 entire letter from the famous Medici correspondence addressed to 'Al. mag/co Raphael di Medici Chaberla' (1477-1555) sent from Flanders to Rome (cert. Van der Linden, stating only 20 letters recorded), further four Corsini letters (1571/94) including one letter 1571 sent as duplicate from Florence "et lo fermo et ... copia il.... ultima ...p via die Venezia" by Thurn & Taxis Mail forwarded to London  (cert. Van der Linden), 1660 letter endorsed: "Post war frei Grenze / bis Hamburg" bearing red crayon 'X' mark, 'franca per Ven' on 1680 letter from Rome to Lille, various 17th and 18th century forwarded letters, British 'franches' - handstamps on forwarded mail by Thurn & Taxis from England, different 'Trient' - tax marks in red or black, D'ALLEMAGNE in black on 1767 letter to Lille (cert. v.d. Linden), 1773 parcel mail from Augsburg "Col Carro di Posta Imperiale" and red ink tax: "Auslag 13 / porto 29 / 42 X" (Kreuzer) - postage to Venice, 1776 'pr. Vienne' on letter from Breslau (Silesia) and 1777 'Fr. Trento' letter from Leipzig, both addressed to Livorno, 'VE/RONA' circle h.s.on 'ExOffo' letter from Rovereto to Venice (signed Vollmeier) up to the red oval 'double eagle' h.s. of Venice applied on two letters to Bolzano (Vollmeier No. 10). A fine and detailed collection showing many routings and rates with nearly 300 years postal history by the 'Tasso' post, either on the 'Brenner' route via Augsburg to the Spanish Netherlands or via Vienna to North Eastern Europe. Viewing is a pleasure and highly recommended, all with detailed notes to routes and rates by the collector.
