    Italian Post Offices in Alexandria 1865/71: Two covers incl. 1865 to Livorno bearing Italy 60 c. lilac tied by framed "PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANI", a rare cancellation. Also 1871 to Messina bearing Italy 40 c. rose tied by '234' numeral handstamp. Both with ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO POSTE ITALIANE cds alongside and the corresponding transit and arrival cds's on reverse. An interesting duo showing the 60 c. rate up to 1868 and the reduced 40 c. rate therafter.
