Lot# 4082 - Auction 257-264

  • Lot# : 4082 Ecuador

1865: 1 r. green, two vertical pairs used in combination with early impression ½ r. deep bright blue and 1 r. buff in a corner marginal block of six from base of sheet (positions 64-65/73-74/82-83) with part of the marginal frameline at base, used on refolded wrapper to Ambato and tied by 64 dot lozenge and two strikes of "Latacunga" despatch datestamp (Oct 12) in black. A marvellous and spectacular cover proving that even towns as small as Latacunga were consigned both colours of the 1 real in the first year of issue - nevertheless this is one of but two covers recorded bearing both colours of the 1 real together and a beautiful franking.
