  • Lot# : 3485 Guatemala

    1 / 1
1871 (March 1): 5 c. bistre-brown, a single example used on 1872 entire letter to Ramon Rodriguez in Mazatenango tied by bold strike of numeral "1" obliterator in black with "Correos / Guatemala" circular datestamp alongside (June 8) struck in blue. A fine example of the reduced rate (from 6 to 5 centavos) introduced in late January 1872. Unrecorded in the Goodman census with just 7, perhaps eight single 5 c. frankings now known. Central file fold well away from the adhesive, a very rare and most attractive entire in the foremost quality. Cert. Moorhouse (2009).
